ABOUT THE EVENT /

What does "Fresh Starts" mean? Fresh starts symbolizes new beginnings, fresh takes on existing topics, innovative ideas that can reinvent our perspectives. In contrast, it can be interpreted to mean a fresher environment or how we can all start anew following the pandemic.

Have you heard of TED talks?  What about TEDx talks?  One of the main differences between TED and TEDx is the "x", which signifies that the event is an independently organized TED event organized by members of the local community (in this case, Briar Woods)!  TEDxYouth@BriarWoodsHS, an event officially licensed by TED, will feature speakers delivering new TEDx talks to a live audience that all tie into our theme of "Fresh Starts".

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@BriarWoodsHS, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouth@BriarWoodsHS event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
